Milk, a nutrient-rich beverage, is good for health. But drinking milk may significantly raise the chances of evolving breast cancer in a woman. New research released by Adventist Health Sciences Center of Loma Linda University reveals the surprising fact about milk consumption. The study relies on the amount of milk consumed. The researchers have found dairy could raise the risk of breast cancer by around 80%. The latest study includes an assessment of more than 52,000 females having a mean age of 57.1 years. The team has also estimated their diets using procedures like food frequency forms.

The candidates have even answered a question bank at the beginning of the study. The list included questions focusing on health aspects like physical activity level, hormonal or other medication use. They have also considered other sides like a family history of breast cancer, alcohol consumption, and breast cancer test. All of the participants were diagnosed with cancer-free at the beginning of the trial. Since then, researchers have had followed the females for around eight years. The outcomes, released in the International Journal of Epidemiology, reveals that dairy milk consumption has a connection with a higher risk of breast cancer when balanced for soy intake, equated to low or no milk intake. More precisely, the scientists say that consuming just one-third or one-fourth cup of milk daily has a link with a 30% greater risk of breast cancer.

Apart from this, consuming 2-3 cups of milk per day raised the risk to 70-80%. The team also highlights that present-day US Dietary guidelines suggest 3 cups of milk daily. Gary E. Fraser, the first author of the study, said proof from this research proposes that people should see that suggestion with attention. As the latest trial is experimental, scientists cannot determine a reason and influence the relationship between dairy milk and the risk of breast cancer. Fraser said the study offers pretty firm proof that either milk or some other aspect has a close relation with consuming dairy milk is a reason for breast cancer in females. Well, milk indeed has some beneficial nutritional attributes. Fraser added but there is a need to balance them against other probable, less helpful benefits.
